Just a couple days to go before Christmas and only very few people will have already done all their Christmas shopping. For those who have, they are either far-sighted or very well organized…or maybe even both. Well done ! For all the others, if you’re short on ideas, remember that a watch will unmistakably hit the target. And in this Christmas period, if it’s white as snow and set with a few sparkling stones then all the better.
HUBLOT BIG BANG STEEL PAVE WHITE 38mm, 16’400.-
A first good option could be the white ceramic declination of the Hublot Big Bang. Fitted on a white rubber strap and featuring a diamond-set bezel, it will always be a safe bet. Thanks to its automatic movement, no need to worry a second about manually winding the watch. You just need to set the hour on the correct time zone (depending on where you will be spending Christmas), and that’s all there is to it. The date indication on the dial will serve as a useful reminder so that you don’t forget to go back to work and superluminova marked hands will help you read the hour at night…or in your favourite nightclub!
MANUFACTURE ROYALE 1770 OR ROSE & DIAMANTS 43mm, 85’000.-
For the real connoisseurs, Manufacture Royale is a brand that dates back to the time of Voltaire and that is now led by David and Alexis from the Gouten family. The two cousins work tirelessly to grow the brand and perpetuate the horological tradition of the Manufacture, capable of producing internally its own tourbillon movement now recognized as one of the most affordable ones on the market. The 1770 model displays a flying tourbillon positioned at 7 o’clock on the silvery opaline dial. The shape of its rose gold hands is very typical of Manufacture Royale and is replete with femininity. With a diameter of 43mm, it is very easily worn on any type of large or small wrist thanks to the 148 diamonds carefully set in two rows on the bezel.
GIRARD PERREGAUX CAT’S EYE TOURBILLON WITH GOLD BRIDGE 389’000.-
Presented on an appropriate, yet easily interchangeable red alligator strap (…in line with the Christmas colour codes), the Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge by Girard-Perregaux is a final very good option too. In November, it was awarded first prize by the jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in the “Ladies High Mech” category. Its oval-shaped dial makes it easily recognizable since only very few brands have played with this shape. Ultra-feminine by its very nature, this version displays a polished and engraved natural mother-of-pearl dial and is topped with a bezel finely decorated with 50 diamonds!
