Piaget in the spotlight on Jackie Kennedy’s wrist

9 January 2017

The romance between watches and cinema is a secret for nobody as they have been seen living together for as long as one can remember. Be it James Bond and his famous Omega Seamaster, or the (incredibly) handsome Jason Statham wearing a beautiful Panerai Luminor in “The Transporter”, watches have always been the ultimate accessories for big legends of cinema.

As a matter of fact, this was no secret for Pablo Larrain, the producer of multiple award-nominated movie “Jackie”. Played by the very talented (and charming) Natalie Portman, the film retraces four days of the emblematic First Lady’s life, starting just before the assassination of her husband, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, on November 22, 1963. Greatly appreciated of all for her simplicity and her natural charm, Jackie Kennedy – affectionately nicknamed “Jackie” by the American people – immediately became a true icon whose very moving personal story has touched millions of people across the world.

Elegant, mysterious and classy, this great (First) lady deserved nothing less than a stunning timepiece to do her full justice. With no room for debate, the lucky winner that was to sparkle on the wrist of Lady Portman was the golden and authentic Piaget watch from the “Extremely Piaget” collection. This beautiful piece (actually worn by Jackie Kennedy at the time) stands out through its oval-shaped jade dial, finely adorned with diamonds and green tourmalines and fitted with a fabric-like bracelet made from gold mesh. A watch that is truly emblematic of Piaget’s golden age with its fine goldsmithing and coloured stones. For the release of the movie, Piaget has prepared a special edition of this iconic watch. However, we’ll still have to show a bit of patience before we can discover the Portman-Piaget duo as the movie is only scheduled to be released in the course of 2017. Stay tuned!
